Emotionally meaningful support for your home — Emotional Space Design — in Guatemala and Redlands, California.
We help you decide what to keep, what to let go of, and how to transform your home so it supports the chapter you're living now. We don't start with the object. We start with you.
There are things we keep. And there are things we carry.
We tend to think grief is only for a person. But we also grieve a season of life that has closed, a memory that became an object, a version of ourselves we left behind, a relationship that ended, a space that's no longer what it was.
Every object has a story, and every story a meaning. From that comes a decision, and from that decision, a new space.
These are some of the situations we've supported through Rooms We Carry.
What they have in common: life changed, and the space is still holding on to an earlier chapter.
Not everything you inherited is yours to keep carrying.
We get to know your story, your needs, your challenges, and what you want to reclaim from your space.
We help you decide what to do with each belonging.
We create a layout and practical systems for what stays.
We redesign the space: layout, furniture, lighting, color, and visual proposals, within your budget.
We help you maintain what we've done together, and adjust whatever is needed.
"I'm not ready yet" is also a valid decision. You stay in control of the process at every stage.
It's a process. It begins with understanding you, and ends in a space you can live in again.
Some of the processes we've supported — at different stages, and always with each person's permission.
Turning a bedroom into a space for creating, painting, and handcrafts. Selling the bed and a few paintings helped fund part of the change.
Reclaiming spaces for play, working from home, and hosting guests, designed around the life of a family with two young children.
A warm, personal bedroom for a runner: medals, race bibs, and refreshed lighting and textiles.
Supporting a move after 52 years of married life, into an apartment close to the children.
Transforming an office into a space where the person could recognize themselves again.
A long-term process of going through belongings, memories, and inherited objects.
Each full story — with photos and permission — will be published soon.
Your home can hold your story without making you keep living in it.
Rooms We Carry was born from my own experience with losing my parents, the moves that followed, and the relationship between belongings, memory, and the feeling of home. Up close, I've also seen how a house can gather the objects and stories of several generations.
My background is in Product Design, and I've devoted my work to what I call emotional space design: designing around how people live in, feel, and relate to their spaces — not just how they look. I help others build spaces where their story has a place, and their present does too.
This support is not a substitute for therapy or professional mental health care. Everything we share during the process is kept confidential.
Spaces to explore, in community, the relationship between objects and their stories.
A journey through the objects that tell who we are.
Bring a meaningful object, share its story, and together we explore what you want to keep, transform, share, or let go of.
We're also developing a workshop for teenagers about their relationship with their belongings. What leaves one home sometimes finds a purpose in another — donations are part of these stories too.
